This frustration led him to explore surfactant technologies, resulting in the creation of a revolutionary pink cleaner in 1994 that would change the way cyclists maintain their gear.

Recognising that many riders were using harsh washing-up liquids containing salt—leading to corrosion—Rex set out to develop an eco-friendly, highly effective cleaner that would protect delicate finishes and components. Muc-Off Bike Cleaner quickly gained a reputation as a game-changer, providing riders with a solution that not only cleaned but also preserved their gear.

The brand's success naturally extended into the realm of motorcycles in 2000, where Muc-Off launched its first range of motorcycle care products. From there, the leap to car care was only logical. Muc-Off made its mark in motorsport by becoming an official supplier to Sahara Force India in Formula 1 and has since developed strong partnerships with top teams like Team Sky and Atherton Racing.

Celebrating Milestones and Achievements

Over the years, Muc-Off has been at the forefront of cycling success. The launch of the Hydrodynamic Chain Lube in partnership with Team Sky marked a pivotal moment, providing an advanced solution to reduce friction and enhance performance. In 2018, Muc-Off introduced the world’s first eBike-specific range and achieved remarkable success with its tyre sealant, which quickly became a bestseller. The following year saw the launch of the world’s first bike-specific pressure washer, further establishing Muc-Off as a leader in cycling care products.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Muc-Off adapted its offerings to develop a full antibacterial range, demonstrating its commitment to safety and innovation in challenging times.
